After searching for family photos with me in them too, only finding 5, then weeping briefly, I gathered my family to plan our next family portrait. Don't let your mum (or you if you are in the same boat as me!) miss out on having memories created. They are really important for us mums and for our kids. Read on . . .
As I said, I only found a handful of family photos with me actually in them. It brings tears to my eyes as I love my family, I am pretty self-less like most mums. I love being with my kids and husband, playing, adventuring together and there is not a shred of evidence of this! No memory prompts for when my mind can't remember those important interactions. There isn't any record for my kids of how I am now. . .wrestling, laughing, joking, tickling. Do you have any of these photos? Photos which depict who you are as a mum?
This is why I am determined to encourage, dare I say, demand that we mums get into photos. Don't put it off waiting until ...I get my hair/nails done, I lose weight, someone grows a tooth. These are the days we need to capture as they go lightning fast then the moment has gone. Our kids don't know or care what shape we are. They love what we do for and with them, not what we look like. This what needs to be in record.
